ICELAB E-Commerce in Kent award 2011

Biccies - proud winner of the ICELAB E-Commerce in Kent award 2011

Biccies is extremely proud to announce that on Friday the 18th of November it was judged by a panel of six professionals to have the best online shop in the county.

The competition was in two stages, members of the public were asked to vote for their favourite web site, Biccies came second in the poll but the serious work was for the panel themselves whose enthusiasm for the Biccies website was quite overwhelming.

I have copied the press release for you all to see:-

PRESS RELEASE Pines Calyx eco-Venue was the ideal place for The 2011 Ecommerce in Kent Award
By Alan Noake. The award for Kent’s best online shopping site was presented at Pines Calyx, St Margaret’s Bay near Dover.

The winning online shop was Biccies owned by Jo Maloney of Chattenden in Kent. Jo who wins a two night stay for two at the Wallet’s Court Country House Hotel & Spa tweeted, “Dear Santa, I don’t need anything else this year thanks. Yesterday The ICELAB awarded me an amazing prize and it has made my year!”

The final six nominations, as chosen by the public, were judged a panel of independent business people Graham Seymour (Shopper Anonymous Kent), Steve Gooding (TheBunker.net), Sam Anderson (Post & Packing Warehouse Ltd), Hayden Sutherland (Ideal Interface), Sezen Zeki, (Channel Chamber of Commerce) and Paul Andrews (Jobs In Kent).

Second place, as determined by the judges, was awarded to http://www.shoponyourdoorstep.com of Broadstairs in Kent.
Coming first in the eyes of the 700+ public votes, Ben Barratt was awarded 3rd place for his website http://www.billandbenthecartoonmen.com.
In fourth place was http://www.tshirtwonderland.co.uk, in fifth was http://www.fentonsofkent.co.uk and in sixth http://www.theperfectcardcompany.co.uk

The awards were presented as part of the iShopKent 2011 event which brought together retailers based in Kent who sell online with technology providers. Many people enjoy the ease and convenience of shopping online but would also like to keep their money local and the http://www.iShopKent.co.uk website offers just that. Instead of driving to a shopping centre, one click of the button online opens the door to access businesses the buyer knows are based in Kent.

The event and award were sponsored by The ICELAB Ltd, http://www.theicelab.co.uk , to celebrate their fourth anniversary and event signage was sponsored by DMS Graphics in Maidstone, http://www.askdms.com .

Last year’s winner, Georgette Hewitt, from http://www.thepresentclub.com who presented this year’s award went on to appear on BBC TV’s Dragon’s Den where she was successful in obtaining investment from Theo Paphitis and Peter Jones.

As well as having a great website, the simplicity & elegance of your business was clear.
I am sure the business world will be hearing the name Biccies mentioned far more frequently in the near future.
